A recovering mama dog who found her way out of something rough and is putting herself back together, pound by pound. A one-year-old Collie cross with three legs who moves like she has four. A nine-year-old white cat who has earned the right to sit in a sunbeam and be left in peace. Three animals at Saving Grace Animal Society right now, three completely different homes waiting for them.

Same thing we do every month: pull a few animals off the Saving Grace adoption pages and share whoever stopped us from scrolling. This time it is Bella, Solei, and Jyn.

Bella: two years old, Pyrenees Husky cross, 53 pounds, rebuilding

Bella came into Saving Grace thin. A skinny mama dog from a rough situation. She allowed the shelter team to help her, which says something about her character. She is gaining weight now, getting her walks in, and getting stronger. Her trademark move is a confident awoo for anyone willing to pay attention.

She is selective with new dogs and needs slow introductions. She can live with dog-savvy cats and does well in a home with clear structure. Food motivated, which makes training feel like a game. Bella is 24 kilograms, two years old, and ready for whoever shows up to put in the work alongside her.

Solei: one year old, Collie cross, 44 pounds, three legs, full speed

Solei is missing a leg. She appears to be unaware of this. The card from Saving Grace says she carries herself with the happiest heart and biggest smile on the page, always ready to get outside and see what is out there. Active mind. Love for fun. Runs on adventure and attention.

She does well with other dogs and would likely be best in a home without cats. If you have the kind of household that wants a dog at full speed, Solei will match it.

Jyn: nine years old, short-haired white cat, ready for the quiet life

Jyn is nine. She is white. She should be in a sunbeam right now. The Saving Grace card describes her as gentle and soulful, not looking for chaos, just looking for a warm spot, someone nearby, and the understanding that she has done her time and earned some peace.

Good with other cats. Settled. Easy. The kind of companion that asks very little and gives a lot. Older cats get overlooked. They should not be.

Saving Grace is a registered Alberta rescue based in Alix, about an hour northeast of Red Deer. They place dogs, cats, and barn buddies across the province.
